Incredible weekend for Lex Veldhuis

If you didn’t tune in to poker streamer extraordinaire Lex Veldhuis’s Twitch channel over the weekend, you missed out on an amazing display of great play and run good across two dream sessions, the likes of which every poker player pines for.

The first sign that great things were about to happen came in the form of a $109 Kickoff victory on Saturday (Jan 2) for $5,684.

The action was far from over. Lex then went on to finish the night chip leader in the Blowout Series $2,100 buy-in Saturday KO (14 left of 172; $31K up top) and was also in the top 150 of the $215 version of the same event overnight (4,281 left; $52K up top).

If that wasn’t enough, Lex also made the final table of the $215 buy-in hyper-turbo (Event #23-H), where there was another $34K on offer to the winner. However, Veldhuis lost a huge flip when stacks were super short to finish in sixth for $5,577.

It was an insane stream. The most insane stream ever, according to Lex.

Pretty insane stream today. Ran like Fedor/Colman/Elky/Merciers/Bonomo's love-child.

Tens of thousands tuned in the following day (Sunday, Jan 3) to watch Lex continue to crush the $2,100 PKO. He dominated the tournament, picking up bounties left, right and centre before a heads-up cooler resulted in a second-place finish for $51,219 (including bounties).

If that wasn’t enough, we then had the $5,200 PKO High Roller, in which Lex finished 20th for another $20,000.

What a weekend. Don’t miss out next time!

6 essential things you need to start streaming poker on Twitch

Poker pro Lex Veldhuis was in golden position to double up in an online PokerStars tournament he was streaming on Twitch, but a nightmarish river card knocked him out in a roller-coaster hand.

Lex Veldhuis Twitch

Velhuis decided to go all in preflop with pocket nines, and another player with pocket eights called. Veldhuis had an 81 percent chance to take the pot preflop, but his opponent caught an eight on the flop to complete his set.

A second later, Veldhuis caught a nine on the turn, giving him the winning hand – until another eight on the river gave his opponent four of a kind. It was the type of fast-paced heartbreak only possible in online poker. Veldhuis was understandably crushed, and he slammed his table and walked off.
